CraftyPintButtonCrafty Pint is launching a new venture at the Railway pub on Greyhound Lane. They will be holding crafty workshops, talks and film showings on the second Wednesday of every month from 7.30pm. All materials and tuition are being provided, and the workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities. See the Ferrers Triangle calendar for dates of the next sessions.

A new artisans market is running on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, near the Manor Arms pub on Streatham Green. There’s farm produce, artisan food and local craft providers.  More info on their website:

hubpic-apr12We’ve been in contact with Peter Muncaster of Vinci Construction regarding the construction deliveries in Natal Road, and this is what he said:

We cannot prevent all of our deliveries from accessing the site from Natal Road.  This is because as the construction is progressing, it is not possible to distribute all materials to their required location within the site as we have been doing, as the new buildings simply get in the way.  What we can do is limit the number using Gate 6  and ensure that those deliveries use smaller vehicles, which have less difficulty negotiating into the site and thus should cause less inconvenience to local traffic.  We have therefore restricted all deliveries using articulated lorries to the entrances off Streatham High Road and we have introduced a more strict booking regime for Gate 6, including notifying both our subcontractors by letter and the drivers by signage of the limitations on its use.  As a result, I understand that there had been virtually no deliveries by this route this week up until last night.

Hope this helps.

Earl Ferrers

The 13th Earl Ferrers died on 13 November 2011.

In his obituary (see link below), it says that one of his political achievements was to get the pubs open an extra hour on Sundays by mistake. A good mistake to make, particularly if you’ve got a pub named after your predecessor.
